Heirloom and exotic tomato varieties are exceptionally well-suited to the South African Highveld, with many locally adapted, open-pollinated types thriving in the summer rainfall, sunny conditions of the region. These tomatoes are cherished for their unique shapes, vibrant colors, and superior, complex flavors compared to commercial, store-bought hybrids. Flavour ranging from sweet and fruity to rich and earthy.

• Uses: Ideal for salads, Caprese, and, due to lower water content, excellent for roasting and making rich, thick sauces.
• Seed Saving: Because they are open-pollinated, seeds can be harvested and replanted, keeping the lineage alive.
